Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve scavenging efficiency, by opening a scavenging port, into which dilute fuel-air mixture or air is introduced, earlier than a scavenging port into which dense fuel-air mixture is introduced, relating to an uniflow system opposed piston type 2-cycle engine. CONSTITUTION:Dilute fuel-air mixture or air is introduced into a cylinder 5 through scavenging pasages 24 and 25 first, and residual gas inside the cylinder 5 is scavenged through an exhaust port 13. Since, at that time, scavenging ports 28 and 29 open toward a center part of the cylinder 5, dilute fuel-air mixture or air flows to an ignition plug 12 and the exhaust port 13, thus, residual gas is scavenged of effectively. And scavenging ports 26 and 27 open later than scavenging ports 28 and 29, dense fuel-air mixture is introduced into the cylinder 5 through scavenging passages 22 and 23, a dense fuel-air mixture layer is formed at a head of a piston 9. Thus, scavenging effeciency can be improved and satisfactory burning can be achieved.
