Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the two way light transmitting circuit wherein optical loss is decreased and reliability is improved by arranging a pair of element chips wherein light emitting wavelength and light receiving wavelength are different in the same light junction plane on a semiconductor base. CONSTITUTION:Transducers 9 and 9a having electricity/light and light/electricity transducing characteristics, respectively, are connected to both ends of a two way optical fiber 5. In this constitution, the transducer 9 is constituted by a semiconductor base 6, a light emitting chip 7, and a light receiving element chip 8, so that the element chips 7 and 8 have different wavelengths. The transducer 9a is constituted by a semiconductor base 6a, a light emitting element chip 7a and a light receiving element chip 8a so that the wavelength of the chip 7a is the same as that of the chip 8, and the wavelength of the chip 8a is the same as that of the chip 7. In this way, the two way transmission can be performed between the chips 7 and 8a and between 7a and 8, based on the same wavelength.
