Abstract

PURPOSE: To quicken combustion and improve the efficiency of combustion with less noxious exhaust contaminent resulting by forming a protrusion on the head of a piston, which comes into the hollow space of a cylinder head.
CONSTITUTION: A protrusion 12 is made on the head of a piston 3 and when the piston 3 nears TDC, goes into a hollow combustion chamber 6 which is included in a cylinder head 4 and involves the suction and exhaust valve 7, 9 and an ignition pulg 11. At TDC, the primary combustion chamber 6a of the head 4 and the secondary combustion chamber 6b tetween a cylinder block 1 and the head 4 appear. Under the state, communication passages 13a, 13c communicating both the combstion chambers 6a, 6b with each other are made in the protrusion 12 and their courses are centered to open to the primary combustion chamber 6a. Therefore, air- fuel mixture in the secondary chamber 6b is squeezed into the primary chamber 6a through the communication passages 13
