Abstract

928,537. Ventilating and cooling garments. MINISTER OF AVIATION. July 11, 1961 [July 6, 1960], No. 23581/60. Class 141. [Also in Groups X, XIII, XXI and XXVIII] A ventilation system for an impermeable suit 10 comprises pumps 14, operable by treading, which supply air from the environment to the heat-exchange pack 15 where it passes over baffles which are cooled by a refrigerant chamber. The cooled air is passed to the suit through the pipe 17 to be distributed through the pipes 18, 19, 20 and 21 to be discharged at the extremities of the suit. The circulation system may be a closed cycle. The pump and heat-exchanger are described in detail (see Groups XIII and XXVIII). A further embodiment describes a second system of pipes so that gases evolved from the refrigerant chamber may be circulated through the suit before being vented.
