Abstract

356,516. Cooling air. ATLAS-WERKE AKT.-GES., 16, Stephanikirchenweide, Bremen, Germany. Sept. 30, 1930, No. 29303. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1929. [Class 29.] Air to be supplied to the business or living rooms of ships is cooled by direct contact with precooled water, which may be discharged overboard or recirculated. The water is led through a cooling apparatus 9 and sprayed from pipes 5 over Raschig rings or other trickling devices 4 in a casing 1 through which the air is drawn upwards in counterflow. Moisture interceptors 11 may be fitted in front of the air outlet. The water is discharged through a connection 12 or led back to the cooler 9. A part of the air withdrawn from the rooms may be filtered and led to the cooler together with fresh air.
