Abstract

528,957. Washing air. STURTEVANT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and SOWERBY, P. May 18, 1939, No. 14850. [Class 55 (ii)] A tower 3 for spraying air with water stands in a bath 4, and water from a circular pipe 11 is sprayed on the outer surface which is covered with absorbent material such as canvas. Air is drawn by a fan 15 through baffle-plates 7 at the top of the tower, and after passing through a series of sprays 10 flows through a chamber 12 packed with baffles 13 for the removal of dirt etc.; sprays 14 periodically wash the baffles 13. A pump conveys water from the bath to the sprays 10; or chilled water from a separate source may be used.
