[Class 69 (iii)] [Also in Group XIII] A nozzle for spraying water on the louvres a, Fig. 1, of a cooling tower comprises a chamber, h, Fig. 3, the inner surface i of which forms an involute curve to which water is led by a passage j, a lateral discharge port g, Fig. 4, being provided in a detachable cap of axial length shorter than the axial length of the chamber h and attached thereto by a screw thread o arranged so that water entering by the passage j tends to tighten the screw. The chamber walls may be coned as shown in dotted lines at q. The nozzles c, Fig. 1, may be mounted to discharge upwardly on alternate sides of radially directed horizontal pipes h which are narrower at their outer ends d than at their inlet ends e.
