Abstract

612,491. Cooling-towers. TEMPLE, J. E. May 27, 1946, No. 15948. [Class 64(i)] [Also in Group XII] The inner stack of a circular, naturaldraught. water-cooling tower includes louvres formed of metal strips arranged in the direction of their length to be substantially radial to the axis of the tower. The louvres, Fig. 1, may be corrugated, with rolled-over ends 1, 2. They are arranged in parallel relation in frames 3, the frames being mounted in the stack so that the louvres are approximately radial to the axis of the tower. The individual louvres are mounted at a uniform angle of inclination to the horizontal, which has the effect of imparting a whirling motion to the ascending air current.
