Abstract

A non-alkaline body cleansing agent in the form of shaped pieces comprises a mixture of a wetting agent, other than soap, a substance of waxy consistency, such as a paraffin or ester wax, stearin or its esters, and free albumin, such as milk casein. The wetting agents specified comprise the reaction products of sulphuric or phosphoric acid on higher molecular alcohols of more than 10 carbon atoms or salts of these products, albumin- or sulphonated albumin-fatty acid condensation products, and derivatives of lauric, myristic and stearic fatty acids or alcohols commercially used as wetting agents. Compounds exemplified comprise the sodium salts of sulphated lauryl and cetyl alcohols respectively. The substances of waxy consistency exemplified comprise paraffin wax, carnauba and beeswax. The milk casein may be in the form of dried milk powder. Optional additions may comprise colloidal minerals such as kaolin, bolus, bentonite or floridin or binding agents such as tragacanth, starch, dextrin or synthetic thickening agents such as methyl cellulose; triethanolamine is also mentioned.
