Abstract

Hair and scalp preparations comprise a mixture of a soap or a sulphonated detergent with an organic ester of a phosphoric acid comprising a hydrocarbon radical, having at least 6 carbon atoms, which is linked to the phosphoric acid radical through a di- or polyalkylene oxide group, the pH of the ester having been adjusted to between 6 and 8. Adjuvants of various kinds may be incorporated. In an example, a shampoo contains a tertiary ester of orthophosphoric acid. with dodecyldiglycol, a mixed ester from 1 mol. dodecyl alcohol, 1 mol. polyglycol (mol. wt. 300) and 1 mol. orthophosphoric acid, the sodium salt of the condensation product of lauric acid chloride with m-amino - phenyl phosphoric acid, and the potassium soap of coconut oil.ALSO:Hair and scalp preparations comprise a mixture of a soap, oil or fat with an organic ester of a phosphoric acid comprising a hydrocarbon radical, having at least 6 carbon atoms, which is linked to the phosphoric acid radical through a di- or polyalkylene oxide group, the pH of the ester having been adjusted to between 6 and 8. In examples: (1) a hair oil consists of 20 parts of a tertiary ester of orthophosphoric acid with dodecyltetraglycol and 80 parts of liquid paraffin: (2) a hair rinse consists of 30 parts of the sodium salt of the primary ester of orthophosphoric acid with oleyl diglycol, 20 parts liquid paraffin, 10 parts of the polyester of orthophosphoric acid with a polyglycol (mol. wt. 300) and 40 parts water: (3) a shampoo consists of 60 parts of a mixture consisting of 20 parts of a tertiary ester of orthophosphoric acid with dodecyldiglycol, 40 parts of a mixed ester from 1 mol. dodecyl alcohol, 1 mol. polyglycol (mol. wt. 300) and 1 mol. orthophosphoric acid, 40 parts of the sodium salt of the condensation product of lauric acid chloride with m-amino-phenyl phosphoric acid, mixed with 40 parts of potassium soap of coconut oil; (4) a hair rinse consists of 50 parts of the tertiary ester of orthophosphoric acid with dodecyldiglycol. 20 parts of the potassium salt of the secondary ester of orthophosphoric acid with dodecyltetraglycol, 30 parts of a mixture of dodecylglycol and polyglycol esters of orthophosphoric acid and 100 parts paraffin: (5) 100 parts of the mixture as in (4) plus 2 parts of cholesterol phosphate: (6) for destroying lice 80 parts of the mixture as in (4) plus 20 parts of the copper salt of the primary ester of orthophosphoric acid with chlorophenol and preferably with 0.1-0.5 per cent of D.D.T.: (7) a scalp preparation consists of a conventional hair lotion to 100 c.c.s. of which is added 2 gms. 10 per cent olein soap solution and 2 gms. of an ester mixture of 1 mol. orthophosphoric acid with 2 mols. of the octadecyl ether of a polyglycol.
