Abstract

Cleansers for the skin comprise essentially: one or more reaction products of sulphuric or phosphoric acid with alcohols having more than 10 carbon atoms, or salts thereof, e.g. the sodium, potassium, or triethanolamine salts; floridin and/or bentonite and/or colloidal kaolin which have a buffering action; and a binder consisting of tragacanth, starch, dextrin, or a synthetic thickener. Suitably 8 lb. of the sodium salt of cetylic alcohol sulphonic acid, 67 lb. of colloidal kaolin, and 25 lb. of 3 per cent tragacanth solution, are mixed, kneaded, and moulded. Cork meal or the like may be added to make the tablets float. Specification 401,413 is referred to. The invention as described in the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 is for a non-alkaline non-saponaceous detergent for the body containing one or more products of reaction of a polybasic inorganic acid with alcohols containing more than 10 carbon atoms, or a salt thereof, and one or more mineral substances in colloidal condition. Bole is one of the minerals specified.
