Abstract

283,786. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Gres. Oct. 13, 1926. Addition to 260,243. Cleansing-compositions and emulsifying agents forming clear aqueous solutions useful e.g. in the textile and leather industries, comprise the oily oxygen-containing organic substances insoluble in water obtained by the hydrogenation of oxides of carbon or by the hydrolysis of the compounds formed by absorbing in sulphuric acid the unsaturated hydrocarbons obtained by cracking, mixed with soft soap, or grain soap, or alkali hydroxides and fatty acids or other soap-forming materails, or substances possessing soap-like properties, e.g. turkey-red oil or iso-propylnaphthalene-sulphonic acid or other alkylated aromatic sulphonic acid ot its salt, or with mixtures thereof. There may be added low boiling aliphatic alcohols, e.g. ethyl alcohol or pure or crude wood spirit or synthetic methanol, and aliphatic, aromatic, or hydroaromatic hydrocarbons, e.g. benzine, benzene and its homologue, naphthalene, and paraffin wax.
