Abstract

317,834. Sajitz, R. and Thiel, (nÚe Sajitz), E., (trading as Chemische Fabrik Pott & Co.). Aug. 23, 1928, [Convention date]. Finishing leather.-Mineral tanned leather, e.g. chrome or aluminium tanned leather, is treated with materials which conserve its pH value by preventing the decomposition of the metal compounds contained in the leather, the treating materials consisting of neutral alkali salts of simple and condensed aromatic sulpho-acids. Carbohydrates, soaps and sulphonated oils may also be added. Materials mentioned in examples for treating chrome-tanned leather are sodium benzene-sulphonate, sodium naphthalene-2-6-disulphonate, sodium dinaphthylmethane - disulphonate and Turkey-red oil. For treating alumtanned leather sodium alpha-naphthalene-sulphonate and Turkey-red oil are suitable. Specifications 246,468 and 247,588 are referred to. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) carbohydrates without sulphonic acid salts may be used as treating agents. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
