Abstract
582,935. Velocity - modulated tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES,. Ltd., FREMLIN, J. H., and FOSTER, J. Sept. 19, 1941, No. 12066. [Class 39 (i)] In ultra high-frequency oscillators of the velocity modulation type employing hollow resonators, the resonators are of cylindrical form and the electron beam is directed in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the gaps coupling the beam to the resonators being parallel to the axis. As applied to an oscillator having two pairs of resonating cavities 1a, 1b and 2a, 2b disposed on each side along the passage 3 for the electron beam and coupled thereto by gaps parallel to the axes of the cavities, the cavities, gaps and electron passage may be cut from a solid block of metal or from sheet metal bent into shape. Specification 582,936 is referred to.
