Abstract

579,893. Electron oscillators. BARFORD, N. C. Nov. 24, 1943, No. 19666. [Class 39 (i)] Electron oscillators comprise two resonators 4, 5 in juxta-position, and having apertures 7, 8, 9 for the passage of an electron beam from the cathode 3 to the collector which may be a separate electrode 6 or the blanked-off aperture 9. The first resonator 4 is formed to function in the manner described in Specification 528,041 so as to effect velocity and density modulation of the beam in its passage therethrough. The second resonator 5 is tuned to the frequency of the resonator 4 or a harmonic thereof and may be excited by the passage of the density modulated beam through a narrow gap between the apertures 8, 9. Alternatively, the second resonator may be formed to function in the same manner as the first and may be followed by one or more further resonators.
