Abstract

580,503. Emergency exit fastenings. NEWMAN & SONS, Ltd., W., and SHEAD, H. C. June 22, 1944, No. 11879. [Class 44] In an emergency exit fastening having upper and lower bolts 1 withdrawn by a transverse crush-bar, an angularly movable bolt-operating member 11 pivoting in a vertical plane parallel to the crush-bar has arms, 15 engaging the ends of the bolts, the ends of the arms and the bolts being shaped to form cooperating surfaces which when the bolts are in fastening position lock the bolts against, endwise movement. The arms 15 engage slots 16 in the ends of the bolts which have concave arcuate surfaces 17 having the centres of curvature, in fastening position, coincident with the centre of the member 11, the ends 18 of the arms 15 being adapted to move over and mate with these surfaces. The member 11 is provided with a, slot engaged by the end of an arm 10 operated by the crush-bar. A handle may be fitted in the hole 19.
