Abstract

722,447. Vices. GRAN, C. O. April 16, 1952 [April 16, 1951]. No. 9545/52. Class 61. A vice has one or more detachable jaws which are mounted on the ordinary jaws by means of a pin or bolt secured to the rear face of each detachable jaw and which fits into a hole provided in the ordinary jaw. As shown in Fig. 1, the ordinary jaw 1 of a vice is provided with a hole 8 into which a pin or bolt 6 projecting from the rear face of the detachable jaw 3, Fig. 4, is inserted. The hole 8 is shaped to correspond with that of the head 7 of the pin or bolt 6. The jaw is locked in position by a pin which is passed through a hole 9 provided in the jaw 1, the hole 9 intersecting the hole 8 at one side thereof at a position intermediate its length. The jaw 3 is locked in required angular position by providing on the rear face a locking tongue 10 for selective engagement in intersecting grooves 2 provided on the jaw 1. The grooves may be provided in the detachable jaws and the locking tongues in the permanent jaws.
