Abstract

1,215,997. Wrenches. H. D. O'QUINN. 9 Sept., 1968 [8 Sept., 1967], No. 42757/68. Heading B3N. An adjustable wrench comprises a toothed aperture 14 in the fixed jaw 3, a toothed aperture 18 in the sliding jaw 9, and a toothed clutch bar 15 for locking the sliding jaw in its adjusted position. Bar 15 is normally held in the apertures 14, 18, so that its teeth 16 engage the teeth 20 of the fixed jaw, by a spring 21. To release the jaw 9 for adjustment, clutch bar 15 is pressed to the Fig. 8 position, wherein the teeth 16, 20, are disengaged, and the jaw is then moved relative to fixed jaw 3.
