Abstract
1,229,620. Spanners. G. GMELCH Jnr. 30 Oct., 1968 [6 Nov., 1967], No. 51461/68. Heading B3N. A spanner, in particular for car wheel nuts, comprises a centre shank 6 and a cross-bar 1 and has an insert piece 7 which is adapted to engage a nut 12, the insert is free to rotate relative to the shank. The insert has a diametrical pin which engages and slides in slots 9 and (10) Fig. 2 (not shown). A handle 5 is rotatable relative to the shank 6 and weights 2 and 3 provide inertia when the spanner is used to loosen a tight nut or provide final tightening to a nut. The cross-bar 1 can be disengageable from the shank 6 and the weights can be detachable from the cross-bar.
