Abstract

1,193,478. Draughting machines. C. REICH and H. KUCHEJDA [trading as FRANZ SCHMIDT & HAENSCH]. Nov. 30, 1967 [Dec.1, 1966], No. 54462/67. Heading G1X. A draughting machine has a ruler indexing mechanism comprising a slider c on which a trigger h is pivotally mounted, the slider being movable in a channel in a bed b and the trigger having a position in which it is fixable to the bed. Lugs d of the slider support an axle e of the trigger and an arm p of a member l passes through holes q and # in a cover plate a and the slider c respectively. The other arm m of the member l is located in a pivoted pawl o which engages the teeth of a plate k. A knob t covers the mechanism and enables rulers associated with the device to be set at given angles. Thumb pressure on the trigger above the axle e causes an arm of the trigger carrying a lug g to be pressed against the slider, thus moving the slider inwardly and lifting the pawl out of engagement with the plate k so that the knob can be turned. On releasing the thumb pressure, a spring s returns the slider to its original position and the pawl relocks the knob. With thumb pressure applied below the axle e, the slider disengages the pawl from the plate k but the lug g enters a hole i in the bed so that the pawl remains in its disengaged position on releasing the thumb pressure.
