Abstract

983,775. Wrenches. T. NEFF. June 19, 1963 [March 18, 1963], No. 24430/63. Heading B4W. A wrench comprises a handle 1 having a head 2 which terminates in a jaw 14, a movable jaw member having a stem 20 adapted to slide in a guide in the head 2 and threaded at 22 for engagement with a screw coupler 30 for raising and lowering the movable jaw 21. A latching means for preventing rotation of the screw coupler 30 comprises a spring clip 40 which is snapped on to the stub wall 9 of the head and a claw 46 which engages with teeth provided on the annular boss 31. To release the screw 30, the clip 40 is moved down the stub wall 9 so that the claw disengages the teeth. Each jaw has a pair of slanting surfaces adapted to engage flat surfaces on a workpiece and a groove-like depression 17 where the slanted surfaces would meet if extended. In a modification the movable jaw 21 is replaced by a jaw having a central opening.
