721,476. Spanners. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. March 28, 1952 [Jan. 23, 1952], No. 8037/52. Class 61. The head 1 of a ratchet spanner has a cylindrical aperture 3 which engages over the nut 4. The pawl 5, pivotally mounted in a cylindrical recess 6, has a tip 5' which engages the face of the nut. In tighten ing the nut the pawl is pressed into engagement with the side 8 of the recess by a spring 7. Lateral movement of the pawl is prevented by a screw 9, the end of which is housed in a slot 10 in the pawl. A handle having right angle bend may be provided.
