Abstract

576,256. Lubricating systems. OLCOTT, J. De W., BOOTH, H. T., and HOFFMAN, A. C. May 3, 1944, No. 8352. Convention date, Oct. 18, 1943. [Class 12 (iii)] [Also in Groups II and XXXV] In a fluid circulating system manual and automatically operated means are provided for adding a viscosity modifying liquid until a predetermined viscosity is reached. Fig. 1 shows diagrammatically the lubricating system for ar internal combustion engine in which the switch 35 in its upper position completes the circuit to a solenoid 28 to operate a valve 27 to admit gasoline from the fuel line 13 to the lubricant supply line 19. In its lower position the switch 35 will also complete the circuit to the soleniod 28 provided a switch 36 is closed by a viscosity responsive instrument 37 through which some of the lubricant from the supply line 19 is pumped. A signal lamp 39 indicates when the valve 27 is open. A suitable viscosity responsive instrument is described in Specification 576,257.
