Abstract
574,810. Heat-exchangers. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. June 4, 1943, No. 9003. Convention date, June 23, 1942. [Class 64 (iii)] In a tubular heat-exchanger for heating gases and vapours by waste gases of high temperature, density and velocity of flow, the tubes each consist of several tube lengths of different diameter, the internal diameter of the tubes and the free cross-sectional area therebetween being so dimensioned that the product of the velocity and density of the media passing in parallel flow along both sides of the tubes increases by stages with increasing temperature on the heat absorbing side and decreases by stages on the heat discharging side. The tubes are preferably assembled in nests, each nest having upper and lower collecting pieces 13 with tubular extensions 14 which are connected to headers 15 in a fluid-tight manner, e.g., by glands 17, and being resiliently supported, as shown, by a spring 12 acting through a rod 18 coupled to the upper connecting piece 13.
