Abstract

574,303. Vehicle lamp lenses. SAFE-BEAM LAMP, Ltd., and LUND, W. H. Jan. 29, 1944, No. 1702. [Class 75 (ii)] The glass front or lens of a vehicle lamp has a plain front surface a and a rear surface formed by flat vertical surfaces b parallel to the front face and vertical fight-angled prisms having one side c at right angles to the plane of the surfaces b and the hypotenuse d at an acute angle to that plane, the spacing of the prisms or the inclination of the hypotenuse varying progressively so that the amount of light or degree of deflection increases towards the near side of the road. The hypotenuses of the prisms may be concavely or convexly curved to increase the diffusion of the beam. The Provisional Specification states that the prisms may be over a portion only of the lens.
