Abstract
571,846. Spring wheels. MACLEAN, J. M. June 10, 1943, No. 9366. Convention date, June 23, 1942. [Class 144 (i)] [Also in Group XXXII] Wheels have shock-absorbing members housed in aligned circular recesses in flanges projecting from the rim and hub, with rotatable elements between one end of a member and its recess. The rim 25 may be fitted to a felloe 24 having a web 13 between two plates 11, 12 connected to or forming part of the hub 18. The members 31 of rubber or wood engage discs 32, or cups 30 or both, seated in recesses in the opposite flanges, Fig. 1, or as in Fig. 7, the members extend through the web 13 to engage recesses in the plates 11, 12. The members 31 have axial holes 33 or circumferential grooves to permit distortion, and may be bonded to the discs 32, or to one recess. The plates 11, 12 are connected by spacer bolts which pass with clearance through the web 13 and carry resilient sleeves. Specification 406,795 is referred to.
