Abstract
741,752. Spring wheels. ENJAR WHEELS, Ltd. May 12, 1953, No. 13205/53. Class 144(1). A spring wheel comprises a rim 22 and a hub 20 having radially projecting circumferentially interspaced supports 24, 26 respectively on their adjacent peripheries, each connected to rubber or like resilient blocks 36 held under axial compression by two floating complementary annular plates 30 which are spacedly connected together. As shown, the annular plates 30 are bolted together at points between adjacent supports 24, 26 to extend on opposite sides thereof, a block 36 being interposed between each plate 30 and each support 24, 26, and each block having central side bosses 38 and being bonded to and between correspondingly recessed plates 40, the recesses 42 of which engage in apertures 46, 48 respectively in the support and the annular plate. The plates 40 are flanged to embrace the side edges of the supports and annular plates to prevent rotation relative thereto. In an alternative arrangement the two recessed plates 40 adjacent each support 24, 26 may be replaced by a single flat plate riveted to one side of each support.
