569,239. Spring wheels. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., LACEY, B. W. D., and WILLCOCKS, H. R. Nov. 13, 1943, No. 18950. [Class 144 (i)] A spring wheel comprises segmental treads mounted on rings 8 ... 11 which are supported by resilient bands or blocks 13 held by compression between side faces of the rings 8 ... 11 and side faces of flanges 14, 16 provided on an axially extending portion 15 of the wheel body 1 so that the wheel resilience is obtained by the resilient bands or blocks being moved in shear ; alternate treads 3, 5, &c. are attached to one pair of rings 8, 10 and the other treads 2, 4, 6, &c. to the other pair of rings 9, 11, one ring 8, 9 of each pair being located between an outside flange 14 and a middle flange 16 and the other ring 10, 11 of each pair being similarly located at the other side of the middle flange 16. The segmental treads are attached by bolts passing through co-operating lugs 7, 12 on the treads and on the rings. Two such wheels may be juxtaposed to act as a support for an endless track.
