Abstract

590,350. Vehicle wheels. GUBLER, E. Jan. 3, 1945, No. 279. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1943. [Class 144 (i)] Spring wheels. One or more endless spring rings are fitted in tension between rollers mounted alternately on the rim and wheel body. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, applied to a railway wheel, the spring band 6 is stressed by rollers 7, 8 arranged respectively on the wheel 1 and rim 2, alternate rollers on each part being seated on cradles 10, 11. The rollers 7 are housed in a channel 5 between fixed and removable flanges 3, 4 on the wheel, the outer set of rollers also projecting into the groove. The groove, and the clearance between the rim and wheel, are closed by side-rings 3 fitted with felt &c. packing-rings 12. The ring 6 may be of laminated form and, as shown in Fig. 4, two (or more) radially-spaced rings may be mounted with separating rollers. In other modifications (not shown) two or more spring-bands may be fitted side by side.
