569,772. Spring wheels. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., LACEY, B. W. D., and WILLCOCKS, H. R. Nov. 13, 1943, No. 18949. [Class 144 (i)] A resilient wheel for use as rotary support on an endless track vehicle comprises a metallic tread attached to the wheel body through the intermediary of a floating member with which both the tread and the wheel body are connected by resilient members in shear. As shown, the wheel disc 1 is provided with flanges 3 by rings pressed on to a short axial portion 2 and the tread 5 is provided with corresponding inwardly-extending flanges 4 by rings similarly pressed into position. Rubber strips 10, 11 are respectively compressed against these flanges 4, 3 on the tread and wheel disc by a floating member formed by side rings 7 connected by tie bars 6 and having an inside ring 8 held between inside rubber strips ; the inside ring 8 has radial clearance with the tread and with the axial portion of the wheel disc. Instead of rubber strip a number of individual bodies may be used bonded to the flanges which may be recessed to locate such bodies.
