Abstract

637,096. Vehicle wheels. MAIORCA, S. Dec. 3, 1946, No. 35792. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 13, 1947.] [Class 144 (i)] In a resilient wheel, the rim is suspended from the hub by means of two concentric series 24, 25 of circumferentiallyspaced rubber blocks, acting in shear under load and torque stresses, the blocks in the two series being arranged in staggered order and fixed to a floating metal ring 14 set edgewise in the mid-plane of the wheel. As shown, the blocks are bonded to the ring 14 and end-plates 27, 28 and clamped by bolts 39, 39<SP>1</SP> to flanged housings 23, 23<SP>1</SP> engaging stirrups 34, 34<SP>1</SP> on the rim and hub respectively. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a modification in which the rubber cushioning-elements are in the form of endless rings. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
