Abstract
632,992. Yielding plate clutches. NEWTON, N. B. Aug. 29, 1946, No. 25922. [Class 80 (ii)] In a clutch comprising plates d<1>, d<2> rotatably mounted on a hub a the plates are resiliently connected to the hub by rubber discs h<1>, h<2> bonded thereto and to discs b<1> b<2>. Discs b<2> b<5> are rigidly connected to a flange on the hub a by rivets c and are also connected together by rivets i passing through clearance holes in the rubber discs. The disc b<1> has elongated holes k, b<7> which are engaged by shoulders c<1>, il on the rivets c, i permitting lost motion between discs b<1>, b<5> in the direction of rotation indicated by the arrow A only. Thus the resistance to relative rotation in one direction differs from that in the other direction. Specifications 443,608 and 632,985 are referred to.
