Abstract

1,215,190. Friction clutches. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 6 Oct., 1969 [18 Oct., 1968], No. 49518/68. Heading F2C. In a spring-applied friction clutch, the pressure plate 34 is connected for rotation with the clutch cover 31 by pairs of resilient tangential straps 52, the straps in each pair being axially spaced. As shown, the clutch is engaged by a diaphragm spring 39, and the straps are engaged at one end on opposite sides of the pressure plate on bolts 55 passing through the pressure plate, and at their other ends on bolts 48 fast with the flywheel 30. Again, Fig. 2 (not shown), the pressure plate (12) is connected by posts (17) passing through openings in the flywheel to a second plate (22) on which the diaphragm spring (14) acts, the reaction being taken by the flywheel. The tangential straps (25) are mounted at one end on opposite sides of the flywheel on the posts (17) connecting the plates (12) and (22), and at their other ends on bolts (26) extending on both sides of the flywheel.
