Abstract

570 510. Pottery ovens. BOSSON, N. Dec. 14, 1943, No. 20906. [Classes 51 (i) and 51 (ii)] In a pottery oven the gases from the fireplaces pass through flues 8 beneath the floor of the kiln to the interior of the kiln and air is supplied through passages to the flues to burn the'gases in the interior of the kiln and produce an oxidising atmosphere. The air supply passages 14 are arranged in one or both side walls of the fireplace and enter the flue 8 at some distance from the flue exit 11. The fireplace is provided with an inclined grate and the air supply above and below the grate is controlled by a door 4. An arch 16 provided with a passage 17 for gases extends downwardly to below the level of the charging opening 1. The air supply passages 14 are provided with dampers.
