Abstract

1280925 Cremation furnaces NO FLAME PROCESS Inc 2 June 1970 26450/70 Heading F4B A cremation furnace comprises primary combustion chambers 17, 18 flanking a secondary combustion chamber 19 and a settling chamber 21 at a lower level of the structure, a cremating chamber 16 disposed above chambers 19 and 21, with burners 44 in said chambers 17 and 18, burners 66, 67 in the roof of chamber 16, a burner 57 in chamber 19, vertical flues 46 from chambers 17 and 18 with delivery ports 47 into said chamber 16, a connection 51 from the latter into said chamber 19, and wall ports 61connecting chambers 19 and 21. The latter opens into a breeching section 62 below a stack 76 and known controls on a hinged panel 94 control the various burners. If it is desired to cremate with flameless combustion, one or both burners 44 operate supplying hot gases through ports 47 to chamber 16 in which burners 66 and 67 are off, combustion being completed in chamber 19 and solid products in the waste gases collecting in chamber 21. Air heated in spaces formed between a metal casing 11 and the brickwork of chambers 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21 is utilized partly for the burners and partly by a blower 77 supplying an annular passage 81 in a Venturi passage 76a whereby forced draught is created in the stack 76. This is controlled by dampers 88. Some of the mixed air and gases from the stack is vented off by a duct 84 controlled by valve 86 and delivered to the chamber 19.
