Abstract

568,764. Converting. STOCKER, C. P.. and HEAVENS, E. M. Aug. 31, 1943, No. 14201. [Class 38 (ii)] Single phase A.C. 10 is converted into D.C. at terminals 20, 21 by means of a leakage reactance transformer 12 and a. polyphase rectifier 22. Under light loads the rectifiers are supplied predominantly with single-phase voltage ; the addition of load changes the single-phase rectification to polyphase rectification and so tends to increase the rectified voltage compensating for the voltage drop through the rectifiers and other circuit resistances. Changes in the supply voltage are likewise compensated by a combination of saturation and phase-shifting effects.
