A six-phase converting system comprises two phase - displaced star - connected transformer secondary windings supplying rectifying valves or contacts but not interconnected by an interphase transformer, the connections between the star points 3, 4, the output points 5, 6, and the D.C. bus-lines 1, 2 being such that the equalizing current containing 3rd and higher harmonics which circulates in the system has to circulate an area F bonded by the rectifier supply lines twice. The inductance of this closed loop is thus four times that which would have arisen had the connections been such as to provide a single-turn closed loop and hence the circulating currents minimized. The connections may be provided with ferromagnetic cores to further increase the inductance.
