Abstract

558,269. Converters. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. June 25, 1942, No. 8718. Convention date, July 11, 1941. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XXXIX] A substantially uniform D.C. suitable for a measuring instrument and forming a true image of another direct current is obtained by rectification from an A.C. source by connecting in series on the D.C. side two or more rectifiers 4 which are subjected to A.C. voltages relatively displaced in phase. In the form shown current transformers 3 in two phases of an A.C. supply leading to a rectifier 1 produce the displaced A.C. voltages. The D.C. current from the main rectifier 1 is smoothed so that the wave form of the currents through the primaries 3 will be rectangular and the rectified currents that each secondary 3 tends to produce will also be rectangular with zero points out of phase so that when combined in series a uniform current results. In a modification, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) a three-phase A.C. is fed to three transductors whose D.C. windings are connected in series and traversed by a current to be amplified. The A.C. windings of the three transductors are connected across three rectifiers which are connected in series on the D.C. side.
