Abstract

770,605. Rectifying. HAEFELY & CIE AKT.-GES., E. June 13, 1955 [March 29, 1955], No. 16932/55. Class 38 (2). A multistage cascade rectifier circuit comprises a row of series connected smoothing capacitors C1, C2 connected across the D.C. terminals and two networks of boosting capacitors and rectifiers C1<SP>1</SP>. C2<SP>1</SP>, G1-G4 and C1<SP>11</SP>, C2<SP>11</SP>, G1<SP>1</SP>-G4<SP>1</SP> connected so as to transfer charge to the smoothing capacitors during both half-cycles of the A.C. supply which is connected at E1, E2 across a transformer winding centretapped at A1. By this arrangement the ripple and voltage loss -are substantially reduced over those obtained with the known single network arrangement of Fig. 1 (not shown).
