763,133. Converting. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-GES. Nov. 3, 1954 [Nov. 3, 1953], No. 31800/54. Class 38 (2). Contacts 7, 8, 9 of a contact converter have connected in series, switching chokes 4, 5, 6 and in parallel, by-pass circuits which present low impedance to the step currents as the contacts open by high impedance to greater currents, each by-pass circuit including the primary winding of a small leakage transformer 12, 13 or 14, the secondary winding of each transformer being connected to a full-wave auxiliary rectifier 18, 19 or 20, the D.C. terminals of which rectifiers are connected in series as shown, or in parallel. This D.C. circuit is connected through smoothing choke L and variable resistor R to the main D.C. output terminals 10, 11 and carries current set to a suitable value by the resistor. This resistor may be replaced by a D.C. motor or accumulator. If the conditions in the separate phases differ, resistors r 1 r 2 , r 3 may be connected across the rectifiers.
