Abstract

424,859. Converting. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitats-Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin) Feb. 22, 1934, No. 5873. Convention date, Feb. 24, 1933. [Class 38 (ii)] A parallel-type inverter comprising valves 2, 3, a commutating condenser 4, and a transformer 5 is associated with a rectifier comprising valves 10, 11 connected to a separate winding on the transformer and arranged to feed back energy to the D.C. supply 1 so as to maintain the inverter under constant load and thereby maintain constant output voltage. The inverter is shown as feeding a rectifier comprising valves 6, 7, through which a secondary D.C. network 8 is supplied. Additional reversely-connected valves 12, 13 and a commutating condenser 14 may be associated with the rectifiers 6, 7 to permit of energy being fed back from the D.C. network 8. The valves 10, 11 may be grid-controlled in order that the amount of feed back and consequently the output of the inverter may be regulated. Above the load range in which the feed-back arrangement is effective the inverter output may be regulated by varying the frequency. Specification 424,728 is referred to.
