Abstract

328,117. Carlisle, H. V., and Ferranti, Ltd. April 20, 1929. Converting pulsating currents into steady continuous currents. - In supplying radio receiving apparatus with current from A.C. mains, hum is eliminated or reduced by connecting a pair of condensers e, f in series across the secondary winding of the supply transformer a feeding the rectifier, the point of interconnection of the condensers being connected to the negative output terminal d or to earth. Fig. 1 shows the invention applied to an arrangement comprising a bridge-connected set of copper oxide rectifiers b; Fig. 2, shows the invention applied to an arrangement comprising a two-anode valve m connected to provide full-wave rectification. A condenser h is connected across the output terminals in each case.
