Abstract

247,213. Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Kroger, F. H.). Feb. 6, 1925, [Convention date]. Vacuum or low-pressure apparatus, arrangements of; converting pulsating currents into steady continuous currents.-An arrangement for supplying substantially steady unidirectional current from a source of alternating current to a load such as the plate circuits of thermionic valves or for supplying the grids of such valves with a steady negative bias, comprises valves 3, 4 connected as shown to the secondary of a supply transformer 2 to give full wave rectification, and a smoothing arrangement comprising shunt condensers 5, 8 and a trap circuit comprising a condenser 7 and impedance 6. A resistance 9 arranged to form a potentiometer is provided to enable the output voltage to be regulated, this resistance being made of low value as compared with the resistance of the load circuit so that the voltage shall not vary greatly with load current.
