490,622. Valve circuits; converting. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., SKIPPER, T. C., and STEELE, A. June 7, 1937, No. 15734. Addition to 428,708. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] The means for producing oscillations of square wave-form as described in the parent Specification, in which a second valve perfects the approximate square wave produced by the first, is modified for producing high-frequency oscillations by providing means for generating a component of grid bias for the first valve dependent on the input amplitude where. by the grid bias is constant and independent of grid current variations. At high frequencies as the input increases the grid-cathode capacity of the first valve 1 tends to increase the negative bias and this increase is balanced out by a positive biassing potential across the resistance 28 obtained by rectifying, in the bridge rectifier 22 ... 25, the voltage in the secondary 26 of the input transformer 5. Instead of using a grid bias battery for the second valve 11, the correct bias may be obtained from the flow of grid current through the condenser 31 and resistance 32.
