Abstract
622,174. Converting. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. March 7, 1947, No. 6468. Convention date, Oct. 29, 1942. [Class 38 (ii)] In providing the control voltage for the grid of a thermionic rectifier from a saturable inductance or transformer an asymmetric conductor V1 is used to eliminate the negative peak and a condenser C1, shunted by a, resistance R1, or resistance and inductance L1, is in series with the grid circuit to extend the duration of the positive peak. To balance the saturation effects the negative peak may be broadened also by a similar circuit V2, C2, R2, but is not applied to the grid. Figs. 4, 5 and 6 show suitable circuits, the point A being connected to the grid. The phase of the grid potential may be varied by a saturating winding on the transformer (shown dotted).
