Abstract

536,217. Valve generating circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., SHANNON, D. S. B., and CHATTERJEA, P. K. Sept. 8, 1939, No. 25427. [Class 40 (v)] In a time base circuit in which a condenser C1 discharges through a gas valve V1, a high resistance R2 (or resistance chain) is connected in series with the charging impedance R1, the condenser C1 being connected across the whole or part of the resistance R2, the anode-cathode path of the valve being connected across a part of resistance R2, and the grid of the valve being connected to a point on R2 which is negative with respect to the cathode. The resistance chain R2 may include a diode V2, Fig. 2, a grid condenser C3 being arranged as shown. The time constant of C3 and its associated shunt impedances is an integral multiple of the. time constant of the generator, so that a small sawtooth voltage of multiple frequency occurs across the condenser C3.
