Abstract
590,480. Pulse generating circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Sept. 27, 1944, No. 18522. Convention date, Aug. 12, 1941. [Class 40 (v)] In a pulse transmitter a blocking oscillator feeds pulses to a normally quiescent oscillator to cause it to generate a high-frequency pulse. Valve 2, connected as a blocking oscillator with feed back from the anode inductance 6 to the grid inductance 8, is biassed between pulses by the potential developed on condenser 9 which discharges over resistance 10 to allow the valve to conduct, a resistance 12 preventing the grid being driven excessively negative. The biassing condenser 9 and resistance 10 may be in the grid circuit. When the anode current of valve 2 cuts off, the sudden rise in the anode potential is applied to a high-frequency oscillator consisting of valves 38, 39 with lecher grid and anode circuits. To terminate the high-frequency oscillations, the negative pulse from the grid of valve 2 is fed over a delay circuit comprising a coil 51 and condenser 52 and applied as a negative bias to the grid circuit of valves 38, 39.
