Abstract
580,844. Valve generating circuits. HAINE, M. E., and METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 8, 1943, No. 432. [Class 40 (v)] Two phase recurrent square wave form pulses are generated by two sub-oscillators of the blocking oscillator type with the frequency determined by a resistance condenser combination in the cathode lead. In this way pulses of square wave form and short duration are recurrently produced and build up of current is extremely rapid, taking place in materially less than one micro-second. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement in which a master oscillator operating at say 2,500 cycles drives two sub-oscillators operating just below 1,250 cycles, a common cathode resistance R, ensuring that the two sub-oscillators look into alternate pulses of the master oscillator. The sub-oscillators control amplifiers having inductive loads and are biassed to cut off so that when triggered by the pulses a. linear current rise is produced in the load inductances up to the limit of saturation. The outputs X, Y of the amplifiers may be used to trigger spark gap devices as described in Specification 578,510. In this case individual chokes and transmission lines are provided as shown in Figure 4, but a common load is supplied.
