Abstract

[Class 40 (v)] In order to remove disturbances of greater amplitude than that of the envelope at any point of incoming low frequency currents, a diode 21 is shunted across the input circuit 11, 12 of an amplifier 13 and its biassing potential is varied in accordance with said envelope by rectifying and smoothing a portion of the output of the amplifier 13 in circuits 17, 18 and applying the output of the latter to a resistance 19 in the diode circuit. In a modified arrangement, Fig. 3 (not shown), two oppositely arranged diodes are controlled to suppress both positive and negative disturbing voltages. Other embodiments show gas-discharge tubes used as variable limiting devices.
