Abstract

566,564. Chucks. BRADBURY, J. Sept. 29, 1943, No. 15957. [Class 83 (iii)] Spring collets for use in multiple-spindle automatic chucking-machines are so constructed that the pin for centering the end of the work is mounted in the rear of the collet to facilitate adjustment and replacement. The collet A is mounted in the usual holder B, bolted to the face-plate of the machine, by screw cap D and lock-nut D<1>, and is closed by the bevelled sleeve F actuated by or integral with the push spindle F<1>. The collet abuts the usual cross-bar E, and the rear end is tapped to receive the centrepin G. The face a of the collet is graduated and an index mark is provided on the end of the pin to facilitate accurate adjustment for which the pin is provided with a polygonal recess or a cross slot.
